Privacy Policy

Last updated 2 September 2026. Short version: we run analytics, our buy links carry an affiliate tag, and we hold nothing about you beyond what you send us in an email.

The short answer

We do not sell data, we do not run advertising networks, and we do not ask you to create an account. The only personal information we ever hold is what you voluntarily type into the contact form. Google Analytics and Amazon both set their own cookies through this site, described below.

Who we are

Wilt & Water is an online publisher operated by Slate Mill Group. We can be reached at info@wiltandwater.com. We have no premises open to the public and no telephone line, so email is the way to contact us about anything on this page.

What we collect

Everything this site collects, why, and how long it is kept.
WhatWhyRetention
Contact form submissionsSo we can reply to you and act on correctionsKept in our mailbox; deleted on request
Analytics events (page views, buy-button clicks)To see which pages are read and which recommendations are usefulPer Google Analytics retention settings
Standard server logsDelivered by our host as part of serving the sitePer Vercel's retention policy

We do not run advertising networks, we do not build user profiles, we do not sell or share personal information, and we do not require an account for anything.

The contact form

The form collects your name, email address, a subject and your message, and sends them to us by email. That is the only place they go. We use your email address to reply and for nothing else, and we do not add you to any mailing list, because we do not have one.

The form includes a hidden field and a timing check to block automated spam. These are not tracking and they collect nothing about you - the hidden field is only checked for being empty, and the timing check only looks at how long the page had been open.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how people move around the site. It sets cookies and collects device, browser, approximate location and behavior information in the way it does on any site. We use it in aggregate; we do not attempt to identify individual visitors and we have no interest in doing so.

One custom event is recorded: when a buy button is clicked, we log the merchant, the destination and the page it happened on. This is how we tell whether a recommendation is useful, since it is the only per-page performance signal an affiliate publisher gets.

If you would rather not be measured, browser tracking protection, an ad blocker or Google’s own opt-out browser add-on all prevent it, and the site works normally without analytics.

Affiliate links and cookies

Buy links on this site pass through a redirect at /go/ which adds our Amazon Associates tracking tag and sends you on to Amazon. The redirect itself stores nothing about you.

Amazon then sets its own cookies to attribute any purchase to us. That relationship is between you and Amazon and is governed by Amazon’s privacy notice, not this one. We are told about qualifying purchases in aggregate - never who made them, never what else was in the basket, never any payment information. The affiliate disclosure explains the setup.

Third parties

  • Vercel hosts this site and processes standard server request logs as part of delivering it.
  • Google Analytics processes the analytics described above.
  • Amazon receives you when you click a buy link, and sets its own cookies.
  • Microsoft processes contact-form email through the mail service that delivers it to us.
  • Product images may be served from Amazon’s content delivery network, which means your browser makes a request to Amazon when a page with one loads.

Fonts are self-hosted on this domain rather than loaded from a third-party CDN, so viewing a page does not make a request to a font provider.

Children

This site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information through the contact form, email us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to certain processing. In practice, the only personal information we are likely to hold is an email exchange you started.

Email info@wiltandwater.com and we will action it. We do not require you to prove identity beyond replying from the address in question.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page. Substantive changes - a new third party, a new category of collection - will also be noted in the correction log on the editorial policy page.
